RFID Tagging in Asset Tracking Software

Since 1990, industries worldwide have adopted Barcode – Scanner systems to track and acknowledge a delivery. However, with the advancement in technology, Asset and Inventory Management techniques are fast adapting to Simplified Mobile-based scanners – RFIDs, QR, and GPS systems, which have proven to be efficient over the conventional Barcode systems. With Barcodes, it is mandatory to pin-point a Barcode to the scanner accurately; in cases of manual errors, several data points are lost. In certain practical situations, personnel are required to climb ladders or travel under stacks and racks to scan and tag assets. Thanks to advanced technologies like RFID, now personnel can get an accurate and real-time update, even while located at a distance from the asset.

RFID integrated with Asset Management:

Anytime Assets has adopted this efficient, reliable, and safe RFID Technology to offer our customers an integrated platform wherein owners and managers can locate, track and get an update without adding additional work on the employees. With RFID, the integrated Anytime Assets platform does the data entry with one scan and locates the asset via a short or long-range scanner.

RFID Tagging – Procedure:

Tagging assets with RFID is a simple two-step process:

Step 1: Owner requests Anytime Assets for an RFID Tag for a particular asset. Upon receiving the Chip-based unique RFID Tag, the tag is physically affixed to the asset.

Step 2: On the Anytime Assets dashboard, click on the “Display images” section to update the image with RFID Tag visible and select the “Assign RFID.” The tag number is entered and saved.

Once the dashboard is integrated with the RFID tag, owners can virtually track the asset status with an RFID reader. While the RFID tags contain an electronic chip coupled with an antenna to transmit data, the RFID reader shall receive the signals and translate them into interpretable data. Information collected from the tags is then transferred through a communications interface to a host computer system. The data can be stored in a database and analyzed later.

Why RFID is necessary – Benefits to Managers and Asset Owners:

Location filtering – Assets can now be filtered with respect to their transfer status (in progress or delivered) or based on their physical location using RFIDs

Inventory Management – Helps owners to find that accurate stock quantity by providing you relevant information about each item in its inventory.

Asset Tracking – Updates owners on the real-time physical location of any item for easy retrieval when required

Eliminates Manual data entry: RFID allows owners to track assets automatically without any manual data entry and its errors.

Automate Order Status dashboard: With RFID, owners can eliminate bottle-neck operations and improve the order process and transfer efficiency.
